I have square logs w/chinking, located in middle TN, built in 1981. I actually have two questions; First, can I use ”Great Stuff” to seal the interior air gaps around my windows? If not, what do you recommend? And second, My interior logs have some type of stain/sealant, don’t know what the product is because no history when we purchased. I would like to strip this product down to the natural log color (Eastern Pine) and then clear coat. How do you recommend stripping interior log walls and wha
Do not use the canned foam on your log home! It will attract moisture to the wood and can cause rot. I would use Grip Strip and chink or caulk to seal any gaps inside.
Sanding is the best way to prep the logs for interior staining and clear coating. Unfortunately, you may loose some of the character of the logs by sanding.
