Hi, I have cleaned and pressure washed the logs. Been drying for two days now, but we expect 15-25 ml of rain tomorrow. I have hired help to get the pine logs stained with woodguard (oil based). How long after the rain should I wait to stain? Can I cover the logs with plastic? This has always been an issue for me. Can never seem to get a good window for staining. Can never fully rely on the weather forecast either. Please help!
If you power washed very hard. like to remove an old finish, you need to let the logs dry for a good month especially before applying Woodguard. You do not want to trap all of that moisture under the stain as it will promote black mold to grow and turn the logs black. I would urge you to consider a latex stain like Capture of Lifeline.
