You can just put siding up, but you need to address the rot first. If you do not it will continue to rot behind the siding and could cause structural issues later. Call Ryan at 877-788-5647 for help with this.

No, not a specific siding. Wood installed in spaces between rafters or rafters and purlins to block passage to squirrels or small animals. AKA Bird Stop, Snow-block, Wind Stop

Any good quality solid stain like Sherwin Williams Woodscapes. Life Line Stain just came out with a solid color stain that is very good.

I believe it comes already stained with either semi transparent or solid stain. Will tell you that I have not read much good about it on the forums.

I am not aware of any such product. Try asking at Home Depot or Lowes. I would see if Hardie Plank has a imitation log siding.

Possibly, but I doubt it. What you may see is excessive splitting if the house is fairly new.
