You should contact a local saw mill. Most will custom make siding to match.

You should use construction adhesive and screw it on. Then caulk around it after installation.

What ever you do, do not use the pool chemical again! It is probably straight was chlorine. If you have penofin on it I would recommend corn cob blasting it and putting a good latex stain on it.

This happens all of the time. The loud noises are normal. It usually happens a little sooner than 45 years later. You can fill the checks if you would like, but it would only be for aesthetics.For the most part, never fill checks on the exterior.There are some exceptions.
