You can wait. It would actually be good for it to dry out. You will need to wash in the spring with Log Wash and possibly some Wood ReNew. You can purchase and get more help by calling Timeless Wood Care Products at 800-564-2987.
As long as there is no finish on the logs you could get by with washing. If there is a finish then sanding will be required.

I have never heard of it. If it is the weathered look you want I would recommend stripping it all complete and then applying a coat of Shell Guard borate then let turn gray. Call 800-564-2987 to purchase Shell Guard.
Best to strip it before applying something else. You want to get a good chemical bond with the wood fiber for it to last. It will probably be mostly gone in a year since it is a deck.
