The logs should have had a grove cut into them that the drywall tucked into. I would suggest a closed cell backer and a large bead of chink to cover the gap. If this is a fairly new log home I would give it a couple of years to settle… Read More »Archive-6848
Do not do it! Will leach into drinking water over time off from house. You could become liable for oil spill. It can also cause toxic fumes inside of cabin. Buy some good quality log home stain and maintain it.
Could be leaking, could be sweating. Sounds like it may be a lack of a moisture barrier between logs and T&G.
I would go back on the inspector.
You probably have bugs in the logs they are trying to get to. You may want to have an exterminator inspect it for Powder Post Beetle or Old House Bores. Maybe Carpenter Bee Larve
Call Timeless Wood Care Products at 800-564-2987. They will have something for your needs.
