Sounds like Powder Post Beetle (Lyctoxylon dentatum) and can only be treated by stripping the logs to bare wood and treating with a borate like Shell Guard. Call Dave at 800-564-2987 to buy borate or Mike at 866-670-3020 for help having it professionally done.

I would recommend a second opinion from another pest control company. You may have to strip it to apply a borate then re-stain.
