Some of the activity you are seeing may be Parasitic Wasps that would be feeding on the eggs and larva of the boring bugs. You do not want to kill them. Call 800-564-2987 for help with products that could help keep the flies off.

Call Dave at 800-564-2987 and order some Shell Guard to apply to the logs before storing. Do not wrap completely with the tarps. They should just be covered and left open around the sides for air movement. You should also put stickers between each layer.

You should take a sample from one of the logs to a Sherwin Williams and see if they can tell you what the make up is. If it is paint you should have it stripped off and re-stained.
