They could be a concern. I’m not sure what kind of bug it is, but if you are paying for a new log home you should receive good solid logs in my opinion.
You should contact a fire restoration company near you to see if they can clean it for you.

You should have the home corncob blasted, borate treated, chinked/caulkedand re-stained. The borate should take care of the bug situation.
They have probably built a nest inside the window frame and are getting inside even though you have sealed the outside. talk to a local exterminator.
The most economical way for you would be to sand it, but it will take some time. Corn blasting is the fastest way, but is hard for a home owner to do.
The hornets are called ”mud dobbers”. You should call a local exterminator to deal with them. The exterior must not be caulk properly if you are getting drafts inside. Possibility that it could be coming in thru a roof vent.
