If the gap is 3/4” or more you should use Grip Strip backer and Perma Chink over it. Anything less you should use Energy Seal caulk. Call Dave at Timeless Wood Care Products for more help and the materials you will need.

You can, but I would highly recommend getting the paint off from the logs first or you will experience surface rot on the logs eventually. Call Mike at 866-670-3020 for an estimate to remove paint.
