You want to use Energy Seal and you can purchase at 800-564-2987. Start by doing the outside to make sure that it is sealed from there. You can go inside after if you feel it needs it.

Raw Hide was discontinued because it was causing so many problems like black mold growing under it. I would get it stripped, have the black caulk removed and get a good quality latex caulk and stain applied. Energy Seal caulk and LifeLine stain are my favorites.

Inside you can fill them if you like, but not required. On the exterior never fill them unless you know they are letting wind, water or bugs in.

No chicken wire. Maybe a strip of masking tape not quite as wide as the gap behind the chink. Nothing cheap in this case. Save your self a whole lot of extra work down the road and use good latex chinking from the start. Call Dave at 800-564-2987 for materials.
