I’m not a big fan of strippers. Too much moisture for wood. Have it media blasted and then re-stain. Not sure on the chinking. If the gap is less than 3/4” use Energy Seal caulk.

I’m not sure what what you mean by 1” mini louvers. Do not use silicone on wood. sounds like the slabs where not completely dry before the chinking process.

Never seen chink in a gallon pail. You sure it isn’t chink paint? It comes by the gallon. Call Perma Chink to see if they have a way to thicken. (800) 548-3554
