When you say seal I’m taking it you mean staining. If it is that old and has never been stained I would say leave it other than applying a good coat of Shell Guard borate treatment per the label. You can call 800-564-2987 to purchase.

I’m not sure what Chevron oil is doing on your home, but I would not recommend putting anything over it until it is stripped off if you can.

Experiment putting another coat of something darker (Teak?) in the Sikkens. You will have the same maintenance with the Sikkens as the S.W. semi-transparent, about every 3 or 4 years. Do not neglect this part or it can get very costly to get back in shape.

I would recommend sanding them so that they are smooth and applying a coat of clear Life Line interior stain and a coat of Acrylic Gloss or Satin topcoat. Call Dave at 800-564-2987 to purchase.

I doubt it has PCP on the logs, but I’ve seen worse. PCP is used to treat railroad ties and utility pole and would have a dark or black sticky feel to the logs. No way to remove it from the wood really since it will soak into the wood… Read More »Archive-4372

No, it sounds like you have a leak or condensation problem. I would start with caulking the corner on the outside and see if it helps.

I do not recommend leaving them natural. They should be cleaned and have a couple of coats of clear stain or acrylic sealer applied to keep the dust and dirt out of the wood fiber. Makes it much easier clean the logs also. Tell your Realtor to stick to selling!… Read More »Archive-4378
