I would recommend just leaving it until you can afford to buy the $80 dollar stain and have it corn blasted.
Probably, but you should wash it first. No guarantee when putting a different product on top of something else.
If the wood cleaned up well there shouldn’t be a problem. I would go with the Sherwin Williams.
Corn cob blasting would be the best way to remove it, and yes, you could leave it to turn gray. If so, you may want to apply a good borate treatment. Call Mike at 866-670-3020 for help.
You should stick with a latex stain like Perma Chink Life Line Ultra 2 or Ultra 7. There is a satin clear coat that goes over the stain that is not real shiny.
