The best way is going to be grind and sand them back to bare wood and then apply lighter stain or just a clear stain.

You shouldn’t use true chinking on that style of log. Energy Seal Caulk would be best. Call Mike at 866-670-3020 for help and possible costs if you are looking to have it contracted.

You may have to grind it off with a side grinder and sanding disc. Or try scraping it off then sand with a orbital sander.
