It will at first, but as the wood dries and the house moves it more than likely will break loose.You should use the Perma Chink Med. Gray that looks like cement.

We normally do not worry about splits (checks) in the logs unless they are allowing wind, water or bugs to enter the interior of the home. If they are really bad, the logs may need to be replaced.

You may want to contact a local contractor for some ideas. Im sure that it will affect your insulation factor a little. There may be some kind of thin new insulation board that you could use and paint. ???
