Kevin: Latex caulk is all that you should ever use on yourlog home. Almost every product made todayfor log homes is a latex based product. Never use silicone. Call Timeless Wood Care Products at 800-564-2987 and they can help you with all your product needs.
On the exterior you will need to pull the trim off. Calk and chink all the areas between window and buckings. Do this in a way that you can reinstall the trim and not interfer with the calking job. Also any log checks should be filled in this area.

Lime give the chinking the bright white color. I would experiment with a spot OFF THE HOUSE to determine what coloryou want to achieve. Ive seen jobs where the lime wasn’t installed evenly and it looks spotty. Be consistant with which ever way you choose.
