On the exterior you will need to pull the trim off. Calk and chink all the areas between window and buckings. Do this in a way that you can reinstall the trim and not interfer with the calking job. Also any log checks should be filled in this area.

Lime give the chinking the bright white color. I would experiment with a spot OFF THE HOUSE to determine what coloryou want to achieve. Ive seen jobs where the lime wasn’t installed evenly and it looks spotty. Be consistant with which ever way you choose.
