It would probably be best to media blast it first then sand or Osborne brush it, other wise your sanding disc’s will just load up too quickly.

Air leaks are not what we mean by breathe. The finish on the logs needs to be breathable, kind of like Gortex, where it lets vapor out, but doesn’t let rain into the wood fiber.
The best you can do is apply a good borate about every 10 years. I would recommend Shell Guard. Call 800-564-2987 to purchase.

It is called resin bleed and can go on for years.

Do not use bleach. I would recommend washing ti with Log Wash and then apply Shell Guard borate and let it weather to match
They make a stacker caulk, but not sure if it will hold up to the temp. I would not put any sort of caulk on the interior. Call Dave at 800-564-2987 for help.
