If you are going back to same color, then you probably do not need to remove all of the old. You should experiment in an out of the way place.

Not sure why you are using Sure Shine. It is normally used for wood floors. That may be the culprit. I wouldn’t think the UV boost would do it. Could just be your wood. All woods take stain and clear differently.

You may have to media blast or sand it back to bare wood. Try calling Dave at 800-564-2987. He can answer questions and may have some sort of cleaner that will work.

You might try having some Sherwin Williams Woodscapes mixed to try and match. Not going to say how long it will stay on over the creosote. You really should have it removed since it is VERY high in carcinogens.
