It doesn’t really matter. The semi-trans will need maintenance every 3-4 years and the solid color will need maintenance every 7-10 years. Also, the solid looks like paint and you will not be able to see the wood grain.

Any stain is going to need some prep. If you are going to go with a different stain the logs should be stripped first.
