It doesn’t really matter. The semi-trans will need maintenance every 3-4 years and the solid color will need maintenance every 7-10 years. Also, the solid looks like paint and you will not be able to see the wood grain.
Not sure how well the Cabot stain blends in, but you could try to sand the knots with a course grit and re-stain. Maybe try asking at a Sherwin Williams if they have something that will ”etch” the shine, or have something to put over it to dull it up.… Read More »Archive-5264

Any stain is going to need some prep. If you are going to go with a different stain the logs should be stripped first.
