Murphy’s would be OK, but if that doesn’t clean them enough you may need to sand them. I would not recommend Linseed Oil. You should apply a couple of coats of Acrylic Gloss or Satin. Call 800-564-2987 to buy.

I doubt that the flies are nesting there. They typically like to nest in the walls and behind window jambs. You can fill the checks on the interior since they are not subject to weather, but it would only be for esthetics.
